Peter went through changes in both his academic and professional careers that reflect his intense interest in software development. He started as an Electrical Engineering major at OSU, but found the thrill of programming irresistible and changed his major to Computer Science after his sophomore year. After graduation, he spent three years working as a software engineer at Tektronix before moving to Microsoft. During his first years at Microsoft, he was part of the team developing Microsoft Word. Currently, he is Development Lead for the Office Base Technologies group, which focuses on performance issues related to the entire suite of Microsoft Office products. Mr. Oosterhof has motivated a new generation of computer professionals by returning to the OSU campus and telling them about the skills and attitudes necessary for success in the software industry. Students particularly enjoy his accounts of meetings with "Bill."
